CIAO FRANCO!

04.02.2015 LE SIRENUSE

Franco Sersale left us last week, at the age of 88, doing what he had always loved doing: travelling.

He was in Udaipur, in the Indian state of Rajasthan, on the latest of the voyages which, over the years, had taken him all over the world. A talented photographer who had exhibited in several galleries, Don Francesco Saverio dei Marchesi Sersale, to give him his full name, was one of the four siblings who co-founded the Sirenuse hotel in 1951, in what had been the family home.

But it was not until 1990, after many years abroad, that he took over the running of the hotel and launched a top-to-toe refurbishment. Two years later he would pass the management of the hotel to his son, Antonio, but he continued to take an active part in the life of the resort, and will be sorely missed not only by his family but by the many guests who became friends over the years.

Franco Sersale

In the coming weeks, the Sirenuse Journal will pay tribute to il signor Franco by posting a selection of his photographs from a lifetime of travels.

Ciao Franco! Ci mancherai. We will miss you.
